Hello. I am 22 years old, 5'4 and 116lbs. My body fat is 18.5.
I am training about 5 to 6 days a week. I do a lot of cardio and mix in some strength training.
I eat a healthy diet..... whole wheats, low fat dairy, minimal to no processed foods, fruits and veggies, and protein. I give myself a B+ to A- on diet.
Here are my questions... I know that i need to get my body fat to about 15%. I am training pretty hard and just not achieving results. I have tried changing up my work outs. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a bad right knee from 10 yrs of gymnastics... so I have to keep that in mind. Any supplements I can try? I struggle most with my lower body....thats my build... small frame but real gymnast looking lower body...not good!
Next... for the life of me I can not find anyone in the Washington D.C. area that choreographs routines. Does anybody know someone in my area?
From what I have explained..... how much longer do you think it would take me before I can compete?
Thanks soooooooooooooooo much.
Ashlee

Hi Ashlee!
You are in the DC area? I am in Maryland. I am currently training for the Ms. Fitness DC pageant on Aug 11th. I am trained by Cathy Savage (cathysavagefitness.com) in her online SOS program. They also do choreography if you are interested in having someone make the routine for you and send you a video of it, you learn it, then send videos of yourself doing the routine for critique. I don't have the $ for that right now otherwise I would do it myself so I am going to do my own choreography. If you are looking for help, I would start with Cathy. I just went to the Kumite Classic last weekend in Pittsburgh and all her girls did amazing in the Fitness America and Bikini America pageants. I got to meet Cathy and some of her staff, and I am really glad I chose them to train with. They really know their stuff. So far I have lost 10 lbs on the program and I haven't even been that good at sticking with the diet (working on it!). It's tough but doable. If you have the resources, check into it!
Take care!
Tricia

I checked out cathysavagefitness.com and I am definitely getting signed up. I already e-mailed my pictures to them. Do you know of any other pageants in the MD area. It seems there are none in this area. If you have an e-mail I would like to stay in touch.
Thanks

Ashlee, Cool! I really don't know a lot of shows that are happening around here, but you could check out www.theOCBwebsite.com and bodybuilding.com, and see what you can find. I am focusing on Ms. Fitness and probably the Fitness America NY pageant in October right now. My e-mail is triciaroth@comcast.net so please feel free to contact me. Happy training! Tricia

Good work so far. How long have you been on an eating plan? Finding a good choreographer sometimes requires travel. If you have limited funds I would suggest buying a recent Ms Fitness Video and taking it to a Gymnastic/Dance training studio and see if they can help you.

Just a quick update! I have been training/dieting for eight weeks! I have completely transformed my body! I have my first competition in one week!! I found a professional fitness routine choreographer... which was wonderful! My routine kicks butt... I have never worked so hard on anything before in my life! The competition is definitely expensive....and A LOT of hard work. With determination... anything is possible!!!

Do NOT dehydrate. This is a Fitness competition. We do not want you to pass out on stage. Keep your water intake up.
