I'm new to this whole experience so I have a lot of questions, especially regarding choreography. Exactly when should I hire a choreographer (how close to competition)? What are the length requirements for the choreography section? About how much does it cost to hire a decent choreographer? Are there any restrictions on the type of music you choose, like no swearing in the lyrics, etc? Plus, is there any way to prepare for this competition on a budget? I'm a poor college student, so my monetary resources are limited. Where could I buy a cheap gown? Where can you buy a cheap protein shake powder? Should I be taking supplements or is that a waste of money?

Hi there, There aren't any requirements per say for the 90 second fitness routine. Do what you do well. Focus on your strong suit, whether it be gymnastics, dance, strength, or flexibility. It isn't stated in the rules, but your overall music needs to be clean. Choreography and routine training depend on you. If you feel that you aren't a born performer and have a lot to learn then start early and give yourself plenty of time to train. I've known competitors to spend a fortune and never make it to the top ranks and others to compete on a shoestring budget and make it their very first year. As far as finances go, where there is a will there is away. Many competitors recruit their own sponsors to help pay for general expenses. You would be suprised how many people there are out there that would love to be a part in some way of you reaching new heights. All you have to do is ask. All they can say is no or maybe YES!!! As far as inexpensive costumes go to www.divaexchange.com or www.lydiahaskell.com There are several cute costumes for sale right now. Also sometimes music, shoes, props, gowns, etc. can be found too. Good Luck
