Okay, This is my first nationals, and I want to get it right!
1. Do I need a hair /makeup person? I ask b/c I know that they let each competitor have one back stage, so is this something most girls do? If not, do they have artists available back stage we can use?
2. What should I be looking for in an evening gown? I have narrowed it down to two. One is conservative but light colored. The other is dark, but a bit "unique".
3. I know that a bikini is issued, but are the shoes as well? If so, do we have to wear these shoes for the evening gown round also?
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for any help you can give!! I am soo nervous:)
It isn't necessary to have a makeup or hair person. It is a nice luxury though and gives you one less thing to worry about. If you elect to do this you pay for it yourself.
A gown can be simple yet elegant, brilliant and dazzling or the latest in Vogue. In essence there isn't any one gown that will do the trick. The gown for you is whatever you feel beautiful in and can model well.
Shoes are issued for bikini round. The issued shoes are only required during bikini at the night show. You may wear your own shoes at pre-judging. For evening gown you may wear your own shoes.

Thank you for all of the info, however, I still need some clarification on the make up/hair person. If I bring my own person in, do they need a ticket for all prejudging days and/or finals? If I don't bring my own person with me, are there artists backstage that we can use (for a fee, of course). What do most competitors do- their own, bring someone with, use an artist already backstage (if applicable)?
You can bring in your own hair and makeup person. Once backstage they must remain there. They don't need a ticket but they may need some sort of pass, just ask Meshelle Boyko at registration on Monday. I know a few days ago Nikki Crawford she was looking for girls who may want their hair and makeup done.
