Hello everyone! ;D
I am looking for help with Fitness Competitions. I am looking to compete but I am not sure where to start.
I have been training for about 1 year. I started with 22% body fat and total weight of 117.
Currently, I am in pretty good shape. My body fat is just over 15%, which I was told by my trainer and Doc, is ok for me to healthfully maintain given my size and build. I was told I cannot maintain less than 13% in a healthful manner for more than a few months and without going on hormone supplements. So I will try not to hit that point and remain there for more than 3 months at a time.
Presently, I weigh 112 lbs. and I am 5' 0". Body fat 15.6%, bone structure: medium.
I think I am a little heavy to compete and I may have a little to much body fat. I know most competitors peak out around 10-12% and then raise their fat comp after competition. It seems like a lot of the trainers I have talked to or used, are not very familiar with Fitness competitions. The Midwest has very few competitions for females so finding someone to help me is really difficult.
I am wondering where my body should be in order for me to compete. I am looking to do fitness and/or figure. I was a gymnast and still maintain that body look and comp. I checked some competitors profiles to get a better idea of where I need to be but I am not sure of the weight.
Could someone let me know what is the standard weight and body fat for competitors my size. I fall in the shortest category, I believe Petite A, which includes up to 5'1"?
Also, what are the judges turned away from.. what will make you lose points, and how far out before a competition do you begin changing your diet to trim down? I've seen 12 week plans, but because of where I am maintaining, I think 12 weeks is a little long for me, maybe not. What's everyone else doing? What works for you all?
If you know of fitness choreographers in MN or fitness comp trainers in MN that could help me please send their contact info. It would be really appreciated.
PLEASE HELP! Thanks!!
