I need some advice on weight training ..can anyone please give me some pointers. I hear so many different things. What I want to know is which is the best method for the best results. I want to get toned and show a little definition... Not bulky. But have the appearance that I am fit. I hear I should lift heavy with less reps and lift light with more reps... Well which is it? or is it both? and if so how do I incorporate a system to show this? PLEASE someone help. I want to compete but there is so much I need to learn...Thanks abunch whomever replies Dori

Dori, Remember What you put in your mouth is 75-85% of your results especially for a leaner look. It won't matter whether you lift heavy or light if the diet isn't right. Generally in off season I lift a little heavier but during competition season I believe lifting should compliment your fitness routine. Try a full body routine 2-3 times a week incorporating things such as push ups, lunges, sprints, plyometrics, pull ups etc. Going from one body weight exercise to a plyometric then to a sprint. This will not only help you burn more bodyfat and streamline your physique but it will also help you with endurance and execution of your fitness routine. go to www.Mikedaviesfitness.comhe has a great program for fitness competitors to follow and or order the book Look Great Naked & or Sculpting her body perfect by Brad Schofield from the Ms. Fitness Website

I'm in a similar situation, but I pretty much know what to do physically, but I haven't got a clue in the nutrition area. I was one of those girls how ate whatever she wanted and stayed perfectly proportioned. Now, after two kids, a husband, and a mortgage ( not in that order), I'm proportionately plump, but ready to shed my Fat Suit. My question is, " Which diet should I follow in order to fuel my body for workouts and lose fat at the same time. Atkins gave me headaches and irritability. Can anyone direct me to a book or website that will give me a more healthy alternative as I gear myself toward competition? Thanks!!!! ;D

The Fat Flush Plan is excellent by Ann Louise Gittleman. There are three phases to the plan during the first 2 week are the toughest. During the first two weeks you could experience a few headaches because of caffeine withdrawal, if you drink much coffee because she has you cut all caffeine because of possible fat retention from cortisol and adrenal response. You will lose quickly in the first phase but make sure to go on to the second phase within 2 weeks to a month or you won't be able to stick with it and then the third phase which is lifestyle. For more info Ann's website is www.fatflush.com you can go online to their forum if you have any questions.

I recommend that if you are new to weights than you must not hurry for the results because getting body in shape takes a bit of time. it cant be build over night. So, i recommend start up with light weights that is abs and all and than carry out the heavier ones. A piece of advice, DONOT over do it.
