So here is the situation. I am 28 yrs old, and not technically the healthiest person out there. I am currently at 24.5% body fat, and at the heaviest I have ever been. I tend to lack the willpower that one needs to be successful at health and fitness. However, I have now come to a point in my life where I would like to be healthy and feel strong. I have the crazy desire to be an example to anyone my age or older that you can turn your life around both physically and mentally.
My question is, with proper dedication am I being unrealistic to want to get in the shape I that I need to be in to compete?
If not, how long should I realistically look at to be in competitive shape?
Where do I start? As in, where can I look for proper nutrition guidelines, and workout schedules?
Something else I should mention, my job keeps me out on the road about 60 hours a week. Will this work schedule still allow me to achieve this goal?
Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your help. Now I have a couple other questions if you do not mind.
1. Should I hire a trainer as I am pretty much a fitness amatuer? 2. If so, should it be someone who is a fitness competitor and/or bodybuilder? 3. Last, do you know someone or can you recommend someone in Southern California?
Again, thank you so much for your help.

Yes, I would definitely hire a coach. They need to train you like a fitness competitor not a bodybuilder. The training/ dieting for fitness is totally different. then for bodybuilding. I have listed two great coaches in CA below California www.triple-a.net/http://www.lorenzogaspar.com/

Thanks so much for your help. I have made contact with both suggestions, and Triple-A looks to be the one for me in reference to location. Thanks again for your help, and I hope to meet you one day.
