TEXTTo all- Does anyone know of a good way to truly get a "waif" physique to competition standards? I have been training for years and unfortunately cannot seem to get my arms up to par...they have definition, but I want to compete. Help!

First, I would encourage you to take a look at the Ms. Fitness Gallery and check out all of the competitors and all of the different body types. Find the body type that you think is most like yours. You will be surprised, their arms have definition but they are relative in size to their body. The goal is to have a symmetrical well balanced body according to your own body type. In this organization you don't want to have huge arms like a bodybuilder but rather toned yet still feminine. If you are to much underweight you might want to consider increasing your calorie intake as well as bumping up your weight training. Keep in mind however you don't want to become overly muscular, striated, or vascular like a bodybuilder. Remember this is about your body being the best it can be according to your own body-type. A ectomorph is a ectomorph and endomorph is an endomorph a mesomorph is a mesomorph etc. So my advice is to be the best ectomorph you can be! In other words accept your body-type and work with it.

I can help but need you to answer a few questions. What is your present workout and diet plan? Are you competing now or have you or are you looking ahead at a date? Linda
