Hello,
I am 44 years old and have competed in Ms Fitness in the past year. I work harder on my legs than any other part of my body and can't seem to get rid of/minimize the slightly loose skin on my legs due to age. My body fat during competition is about 13%.
Does anyone out there have a magic cure that will help this?

The loose skin isn't just a sign of age but having a low bodyfat could also be a contributing factor. Here are a couple of suggestins to help you prior to contest :
1. Drink plenty of water
2. Use Preparation H on the loose areas and wrap in cellophane the day before contest
3. Try a skin firming moiturizer there are several good ones on the market though they might not give you permanent results they will at least tighten up the skin for contest the same way using a mask on your face tightens the skin.
Please elaborate on what type of leg workout you do

Thanks for your reply! Preperation H??? I have heard of that but I really didn't know that it works. I have never heard of wrapping your legs in cellphane with the Preperation H. How long do you leave the cellophane on? I drink 3/4 to a gallon of water a day. My leg workout consists of 2 days a week. Jumping lunges 20 reps x 3 Walking lunges x 3 with 20 lb weights each hand Butt blaster 20 reps x 3 using 60 lbs Leg Press 20 reps x 3 using 200 lbs Leg curls 20 reps x 3 using 75 lbs Leg extension 20 reps x 3 using 60 lbs Standing Calves Press 20 reps x 3 using 200 lbs Step Ups 20 reps x 3 holding 25 lb weight Squats with Smith Machine 20 reps x 3 using 70 lbs I also do leg exercises with balance ball. I generally do about 7 of these and try to alternate with drop sets etc... so that I am not doing the same workout from week to week. Thanks for your feedback

Yes, cellophane really does work! I will tighten up the skin & reduce the appearance of stretch marks & cellulite. Leave the cellophane & saran wrap on overnight.
When having your Body Fat Composition done as well as the drop in Bodyfat did they check to see if you had gained or lost muscle?
You definitely sound like a hard worker. Whew what a grueling leg workout! Make sure your not doing too much cardio or you won't be able to build muscle in your legs. Remember sometimes less is more. Try power walking on the treadmill on an Incline. this will really help to bring your legs in.
Keep the great work with a little fine tuning you sound like your right on track!

I will try walking on incline on the treadmill. I usuall run or use the eliptical machine for cardio, ocassionally stairmaster. When my body fat is done I generally gain a little muscle. My biggest problem is when I get my body fat down fairly low I have a tendance to loose to much weight and have to slow down on cardo. When my body fat is that low my weight goes down to about 121-122 pounds. I am small boned and am about 5' 7. I guess I have take into consideration that I did not start excercising until I had my daughter at 40 and I realize that it takes a long time to gain muscle. I am getting prepared for the Ms Fitness Competition in Corona, Ca in October. Thanks for all your advise/help

Drink more water! This the best advice I can give. It will not only decrease water retention but help to make your skin have a much nicer appearance. Drink approximately 1 gallon per 100 pds of bodyweight and make sure to take a multivitamin as well because drinking so much water will cause you to excrete a lot of vitamins and minerals along with the desired effect of decreasing your water retention. If your still feeling like your water isn't coming off enough try one of the following a few days prior to competition; Dandelion root tea, black coffee, regular tea. The Legendary Preparation H Trick: Just place Preparation H on the areas where you think you need to tighten up the skin and wrap with cellophane the night before, it will help to tighten the skin up a bit. Just remember there are no magic tricks, pills or creams that will take the place of a good diet and exercise program. To find out what others think about preparation H make sure to read the article I wrote Ms Fitness Spotlight on Kara Kokenes in Ms Fitness Magazines Summer Issue article

In my opinion, the droopy appearance of folds of skin is most probably caused by crash diets that sacrifice large amounts of supporting muscle, or lean body mass. Even less severe diets and weight loss from bariatric surgery can result in a substantial amount of muscle loss over time. Perhaps future scientific research will show a correlation between loss of lean body mass on a diet with the development of redundant skin.

Hey, I wanted to share something about the loose skin issue. I have a detoxing body wrap that is site specific and tightens, tones and firms up skin. It is natural, no mess and begins to give results in 45 minutes. I was actually trying to find info about having a booth at the Ms. Fitness Expo, and ran across this post. It also can be used in conjunction with spray tans, and there is an awesome moisturizing facial version that my esthetician loves.

Hi ladies. I'm 48 years old. At the gym where I work out, we are having a show. I will wearing a bikini. My challenge is I have loose sagging skin on my inner thighs. I"m working out really hard and eating properly and everything is coming along just fine. So you can imagine how frustrating this loose skin is for me. Is there anything that can work at least for the short term. I heard spray tan can minimise or hide cellulite. Whats there for sagging loose skin?
Im also competing next year. Please help
