In about 3 weeks i will be in college, meaning I will be poor. I realize that my diet will contribute a huge portion to my end result, however it costs a lot of money to eat enough. Does anyone know any cheap, healthy alternatives for the diet necessary to compete? Are there any cheap alternatives to protein shakes/powders?

Hey there,
I totally understand the budget. If you have the ability to cook (not sure if you're living in a dorm with access to kitchen), I would buy a lot of eggs. Cook only the egg whites. In 5 egg whites, there are 20 grams of protein and only 85 calories- no fat or carbs. Oatmeal is great with egg whites in the morning, and if you buy the Walmart brand of uncooked oats, you'll save a lot. Another thing I do is buy the freezer bags of grilled chicken. This way it doesn't spoil if you aren't able to cook it in time. Just take it when you need it. You can find fish the same way. For veggies, buy the bulk freezer bags as well.
That's all I've got for now. Good luck!
